When I first started making beats, the things my friends and family would most likely say would be, you’ve gotta get that copyrighted, you’ve gotta protect your work.
That’s true in one sense, but ultimately it will hinder your growth. Because its coming from a lack mindset, its coming from fear.
Discernment is necessary and protecting your work is important, but trust is vital for success in life. When we take the bus or train, we trust and have faith that the operators have taken the proper courses to get us from one location to the next in a safe manner, same with taking a plane, or learning at a university.
One thing I wish I did when I started making beats in 2006, was post up all my beats on YouTube as soon as I made them. I was aware of YouTube and using it when it first arrived, but didn’t post out of fear that someone would steal them or I would be judged. Don’t make this same mistake.
To resolve this issue for you and future artists/producers I created the Finnishers.Club, a free community of artists who are committed to releasing songs every month, even if they’re not ready.
The purpose of this is to build momentum and gain results in actual reality. Success and progress are impossible if we don’t have an efficient system to finish and release our songs.
If you’re already consistent with releasing your songs, the next step would be making sure you have GOOD songs. The next issue I saw, after artists gain a momentum with completeing and releasing songs, is making sure they are good songs and they are growing. If you want artist development in the truest sense of the word where you can receive direct feedback each week, then join the OBL Members group.
Our release day is the 28th of each month, up and coming this Saturday, so if you wish to participate and get out of your head, join the FINNISHERS.CLUB, introduce yourself and drop your song this Saturday!
Have a great day!
